The areas of these hotels are not very attractive. However, Madrid is well communicated by subway.

Another possibility is the CSIC Residence, which is located in a nicer area. The bus coming from the airport stops close to the Residence.
However, note that the distance to the venue of the conference is around 30 minutes by metro and you have to change trains.
